Tax Payments

Due Dates


Each year property taxes are certified in July or August and typically collected in two equal installments:
  1. The first installment is due by September 30th
  2. The second installment is due by March 31st of the following year

Interest Accrual


Interest begins to accrue the first business day after the installment due date.

Weekend Due Date Notice


If the due date falls on a weekend, the deadline will extend to the next business day.

Making Payments


There are several ways to make property tax payments:
Online:
  • By mail:
    • Payment with payment stub can be mailed to:

    • Make the check payable to: Hardin County Treasurer
  • In person:
    • In addition to cash or checks, credit and debit cards are accepted (fees apply to cards)* To pay in person, come to:
      Hardin County Courthouse
      1215 Edgington Avenue
      Eldora, IA 50627
  • Drop box:
    • Payment by drop box after hours can be made at the Hardin County Courthouse. The drop box is located by the doors on the south entrance of the courthouse. 
    • When paying by mail or drop box, always use a check.
